PAPUA - One of the military units under the command of the Indonesian Armed Forces Operational Command HABEMA, the Task Forces of the Para Raider Infantry Battalion 501/Bajra Yudha Kostrad, is currently conducting mobile security at the border of Indonesia and Papua New Guinea, especially in Maybrat Regency, Papua Barat Daya Province. On Sunday, 22 September 2024, the 501 Task Forces conducted a Joint Sports activity for the TNI (the Indonesian Armed Forces) and residents of the Ayata Village, Aifat Timur Tengah District, while maintaining the areal security.
Emphasizing the pivotal role of the community, the Commander of the 501 Task Forces, Lieutenant Colonel Yakhya Wisnu Arianto, stressed the importance of the Task Forces’ focus on the community's fundamental needs in the assigned area. Therefore, on Sunday, the Soldiers took advantage of the protection tasks through joint sports with Ayata residents. During the activity, there was interaction and communication between the Soldiers and Ayata residents to strengthen the unity between TNI and the Ayata community.
The joint sports activity of Habema and Ayata residents was implemented in a volleyball match. The Soldiers and Ayata residents who participated in the volleyball match were very enthusiastic about following the activities, which were full of a harmonious and family atmosphere. The residents of Ayata Village who attended the Joint Sports activity expressed their deep gratitude for the invitation from the 501 Task Forces. One of them was Matius Fatemyo, who said, "Thank you, Commander 501. We deeply appreciate the sport with the Habema Soldiers. God bless."
After receiving the activity report, the HABEMA Commanding General, Brigadier General Lucky Avianto, acknowledged the 501 Task Forces’ initiative to conduct joint sports activity with the Ayata residents. His words: "The 501 Task Forces' initiative is a testament to TNI's commitment to conduct inclusive social communication with all stakeholders to support the acceleration of development in the Papua region." This acknowledgment from the highest authority in HABEMA underscores the significant impact of such initiatives on the region's development, instilling profound hope and optimism about their potential to shape the region's future positively.
